Heavy Snow in USA Causes Flight Cancellations, Power Outages
Washington, Dec 10 (Prensa Latina) Heavy snowfall blocked roads, led to the cancellation of some 1,600 flights, and left thousands of homes without electricity in the central and eastern United States over the last couple of days.
Freezing temperatures were recorded in northern states from Idaho to Minnesota after a storm froze parts of northern Texas over the weekend and then moved east, Fox News television reported.
On Monday more than 22,000 homes were affected by blackouts in Texas, according to the ONCOR electricity company, while schools in Dallas remained closed.
More than half of the country's flight cancellations were reported at the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport.
Snowfall caused many accidents in Maryland, Nebraska, Iowa and Wisconsin, including two fatalities.
