More Super Typhoons Expected to Hit the Philippines
Manila, Nov 14 (Prensa Latina) The Philippines will be hit by more super typhoons like Yolanda, due to the worsening of atmospheric conditions, according to the Climate Change Commission, which is attached to the Office of the President.
Lucile Sering, a member of the Commission, told Manila Times newspaper that the monster typhoon will not be the last to hit the archipelago, because extreme meteorological conditions have become more frequent and are becoming the new normal.
Other experts note that the Philippines, which is affected by 20 typhoons annually, is vulnerable and prone to strong winds that come from the Pacific.
After the recent disaster, the Green Climate Fund called on developing countries to limit or reduce their emissions of greenhouse gases and to adapt to the impact of climate change.
