Syrian Authorities Start Vaccination Campaign in Schools
Damascus, October 20 (Prensa Latina) The Syrian Ministry of Health began here today a vaccination campaign against polio, measles, rubella and mumps covering schools throughout the country.
Sources of the ministry explained that the campaign will run until the end of the current school year (by summer), and is aimed at children from the sixth to the ninth grade.
The campaign will also cover all children from first to fifth grades who have not been previously immunized against these diseases.
A similar initiative will be implemented in temporary shelters for refugees and medical centers from November 10 to 21.
The current campaign and the next, respond to some increase in measles cases in Syria, and to the decreased by 60 percent in immunization coverage over the past two years due to internal conflict unleashed by mercenaries trained and paid by Western nations and other countries in the region.
