Tegucigalpa, Jan 8 (Prensa Latina) Heavy rains and overflowing rivers maintained more than 20 000 people incommunicado in Honduras, where the state Permanent Contingency Commission (Copeco) declared various alerts.

The Copeco declared red alert, with mandatory evacuations in riskier places in the Caribbean province of Atlantida and yellow with preventive evacuations in neighboring Columbus.
