Ban Ki-moon Visits Zones Devastated by Typhoon in Philippines
Manila, Dec 21 (Prensa Latina) United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon visited central and southern Philippine zones devastated by Typhoon Haiyan and announced a program to raise more than 800 million dollars in aid.
Newspapers from Manila highlighted the top official was in Tacloban, city destroyed in the province of Leyte, where were reported two thirds of the more than 6,000 deaths after the typhoon. Ban Ki moon talked to the officials of the Philippine government and called them to take urgent measures to relocate the almost 4 million people affected by the destruction of their homes.
According to data, the losses surpassed 1 billion dollars, while agriculture and infrastructure were seriously damaged.
