Morbilidad y discapacidad  física por osteoartritis. Municipio 10 de Octubre. La Habana. 2011

RESUMEN

La osteoartritis es la más común de las enfermedades articulares. Se realizó un estudio descriptivo transversal en el municipio Diez de Octubre de La Habana, en el periodo comprendido entre enero y abril del 2011, con los objetivos de describir la morbilidad por osteoartritis de rodilla y cadera e identificar el grado de discapacidad que presentan estos pacientes. El universo estuvo constituido por todos los  pacientes que solicitaron consulta de rehabilitación por dolor articular o limitación funcional con el diagnóstico de osteoartritis de rodilla y/o cadera, en las consultas de rehabilitación de los policlínicos "Turcios Lima, Raúl Gómez, Luís Pasteur y 14 de Junio". Para determinar las diferencias entre la distribución de algunas variables cualitativas se realizó la prueba de Chi Cuadrada con un nivel de significación de 0.05 %( ?=0.05). Se encontró un predominio del sexo femenino (59,6 %), la edad promedio fue de 65 años, el 13.4% de los pacientes eran obesos, el 8.9% diabéticos y un 7.6% presentaban la combinación de ambas, el 48.1% de los pacientes presentaban entre 5 y 10 años de evolución de su enfermedad, la articulación de la rodilla fue la más afectada, el dolor estuvo presente en el 93.7% de los pacientes, el 83.5% de los enfermos recibieron tratamiento fisioterapéutico, el 62.1% presentaron una discapacidad moderada. La obesidad y la diabetes mellitus constituyen las enfermedades que más se asocian a los pacientes con osteoartritis, a mayor edad la discapacidad moderada y severa se hace más evidente. El dolor representa la fuente más importante de discapacidad en los pacientes estudiados.

Abstract

The osteoarthritis is the most common of joins disease. A descriptive and transversal research was made in the 10 de Octubre municipal area of the Havana city. Having the main aim to describe the morbility of osteoarthritis of the knee and hip in the population of the referred area and to identify the level of disability, the patient include in the study  in the period of time between January and April of 2011.The simple was taken from all the patients that were attended in the Rehabilitation consulting room withe the diagnosed of the mentioned pathologies in the four Policlinicals ("Turcios Lima, Raúl Gómez, Luís Pasteur y 14 de Junio").mostly determine the difference between distribution of some variables cualitativas, we made the Chi square test, the level of significance  was 0.05 %( ?=0.05). The 59.6% of patients were  female, the ages average was 65 years, the 13.4 percent were obese, 8.9%  were diabetic and a 7.6% presented both diseases, the 48.07% of patients had between 5 y 10 years of evolution, the knee was the most injure, the pain  was present in 93.7% of the patients, the 83.5% of the patients  received physiotherapeutic treatment, the 62.1% had a moderate disability. The obesity and diabetic were the diseases more associated with osteoarthritis, the moderate and severe disability was most evident in older patients. The pain represents important reason of disability in the studies patients.
