Typhoon Haiyan Kills more than 4,000 People in Philippines
Manila, Nov 20 (Prensa Latina) Philippine authorities today placed in 4,011 the death toll caused by Typhoon Haiyan that 12 days ago hit the eastern part of the archipelago.
A report by a local rescue agency states that there are also 1,602 people missing and 18,000 injured.
According to the United Nations, two million out of the 2,5 million affected received food.
The Asia-Pacific director of UNICEF, Daniel Toole, said the aid received is enough for six months, but more is needed.
The national rice harvest will be reduced from 18.9 to 18 million tons, according to a FAO report, which notes that, in general, the Philippines will maintain the same level of production of 2012, with crises in some regions, especially in those affected by Haiyan.
