Six Bodies from Plane Crash Recovered in Siberia
Moscow, Dec 26 (Prensa Latina) Rescue workers from the Emergency Situations Ministry recovered six bodies from the site where an AN-12 cargo plane crashed near the city of Irkutsk, Siberia, killing nine.
The aircraft crashed into military warehouses and instantly caught fire, according to a Rossia 24 evening newscast. While the nine people aboard were killed, nobody on the ground was hurt.
Experts and rescuers worked into the night but could not find the plane's black boxes. Operations will continue tomorrow, civil defense sources reported.
Possible causes of the accident included pilot error or technical performance issues, but the crew did not report an emergency on board, the report said.
The plane was covering an experimental route from a Novosibirskâ?Ös airfield and should have not entered the civil airport area, a ministry official said.
The air disaster around Irkutsk did not affect the operation of the Trans-Siberian railway line in East Siberia, sources of Russian Railways told the ITAR-TASS agency
