About 269,000 Children to Be Immunized in Bolivia
La Paz, Jan 3 (Prensa Latina) The Bolivian director of Health Services, Rubén Colque, announced today that another vaccination campaign will be conducted to immunize 269,000 children under the age of 1 against pneumonia.
Colque explained the campaign is aimed at preventing the disease in that age group, and will be implemented in the latter half of January.
Acute respiratory infections account for 10 to 20 percent of infant deaths, he said.
The director said that the cost of the vaccine is $15 per dose, which includes administrative costs and transportation to health centers.
He also said that the total cost of the vaccination campaign was $4 million, half of which is financed by the Pan-American Health Organization through its Revolving Fund.
