Organization of Eastern Caribbean Supports Countries Affected by Rain
Castries, Jan 13 (Prensa Latina) The Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) established a working group to support countries in this subregion recently affected by heavy rains that left 22 dead and heavy material losses.
In response to the damage suffered on agricultural and rural sectors, the OECS
appointed several specialists who will visit Dominica, St. Lucia and St. Vincent and the Grenadines, to assess the damage in those territories that reported last December 24 intense rainfall.
Heavy rains caused landslides, floods and collapses that left 22 killed, dozens missing and significant damage to infrastructure in these countries of the Eastern Caribbean.
The aid mission plans to address with officials from each nation, governance issues for agricultural development, food security and nutrition.
Also, Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago and President pro tempore of the Caribbean Community, Kamla Persad-Bissessar appointed a specialist team to work with these neighboring territories affected by this environmental catastrophe.
