Quake Shakes Puerto Ricans, 6.4 Degrees of Intensity
San Juan, Jan 13 (Prensa Latina) Puerto Ricans have shown themselves today emotionally shaken by a strong earthquake of 6.4 magnitude on the Richter scale occurred at 00:01 local time.
This quake brought to the minds of Puerto Ricans the earthquake that destroyed Port au Prince, Haiti's capital, in 2010, just one day after his fourth birthday.
After the quake of this morning, which was felt throughout the country, there have been 70 aftershocks, the largest being 3.7 degrees, confirmed the Puerto Rico Seismic Network (PRSN).
The data analyst Harold Irizarry, of the PRSN, said that from 1943 to 1946 an earthquake did not occur in this Caribbean island that exceed 6.4 degrees.
The quake was recorded at failure to 19 degrees in the Atlantic Ocean, 36 kilometers deep, distant 77 miles from the coast of Quebradillas.

Christa von Hilldebrant, director of Caribbean Tsunami warnings, ruled out the possibility that a tsunami may occur as a result of the quake, which seems to be the biggest concern of Puerto Ricans.
Scientific explained that the tsunami occurs with a higher intensity to 7.0 degrees, so he urged people to remain calm, not to be alert for any situation that may arise.
