Intensive Rains Kill Three, Wound 37 in Ecuador
Quito, Jan 10 (Prensa Latina) The intensive rains accompanying the beginning of the winter in Ecuador have killed three and wounded 37 in the most severely affected provinces over the last four days.
According to a report posted on the website www.ecuadorinmediato.com, 95 houses were damaged in Chimborazo and Esmeraldas, as a consequence of rainfall and overflowing rivers.
The note states that the other provinces damaged by the rainstorm are Guayas, Manabi, El Oro, Los Rios, Cotopaxi, and Tungurahua.
The entire country is suffering an atmospheric instability due to humidity from Brazil, and winds from the south-eastern region, said Elizabeth Velez, from the National Meteorology Institute.
