Russian Amur Continues Overflowed

Moscow, Aug 30 (Prensa Latina) Waters of the Amur River in the Far East, are 770 centimeters, 170 above its critical level, near the town of Javarovsk, and thousands of people remain evacuated, including 370 children.

Sources of the Ministry for Emergency Situation said that in the last 24 hours the water level rose to only 14 centimeters of the 770.

Predictions of the Russia Hydrometheorological authority indicate that at the current rate of growing, the water level will exceed 180 centimeters near Javarovsk in the next 24 hours.

In anticipation, in the town continue the work of building and strengthening protective dikes, while the water is pumped from several areas flooded.

On Thursday, Russian President Vladimir Putin evaluated the human and material damages during a tour of the flooded areas, where about 11, 000 households and 570 social objectives are underwater.

Only in the region of Blagoveschen where counted more than 1,200 houses flooded and hundreds territories damaged, according to a report of Russia-24.

The floods caused by heavy raines, affect since late July the territories of Amur, Khabarovsk and Autonomy Hebrew mainly, with an area covering 190 villages and 9,500 households.

During a meeting devoted to energy Putin claimed this week to the appropriate authorities and agencies involved, to rebuild in short-term the infrastructure damaged by natural phenomenon.

In an analysis of the situation, the president criticized those responsible for the damage to the population and the regional economy, and promptly demanded the execution of an action plan for contingency situations.

The economic losses from the climatic disaster in the Far East are estimated in nearly 30 billion roubles, about a billion dollars.

More than 70 bridges and just over 1,200 kilometers of roads must be rebuilt, according to preliminary estimates.
