Bolivia Supports the Rights of Mother Earth From Russia

Moscow, Apr 22 (Prensa Latina) The Bolivian presence in the Northern Treasures Fair, in the International Day of Mother Earth, attracts visitors today to the Permanent Exhibition of Advances of Science and Technology of Russia (VDNKh, in Russian).

We started the celebrations yesterday, with our participation in the Congress of Communities of Indigenous Peoples of Russia, said the ambassador of the South American country, Maria Luisa Ramos, who spoke at the forum about Bolivia's experience in defending the rights of indigenous people.

In declarations to Prensa Latina regarding this event promoted by the United Nations, the diplomat recalled that Bolivia proclaimed the recognition of the rights of Mother Earth as duties and obligations of the Plural-national State and society through Act 071, which, as per her words, ensures respect for the right to life, water, clean air, balance, and living without contamination.

Like Mother Earth (Pachamama) it is to be respected and cared for, we must also ensure its right to renewal, stressed Ramos.

The expert in environmental issues recalled that humanity is threatened by excessive extraction of natural resources through the application of the so-called 'green economy', which seeks to obtain as much profit as possible out of everything, including the rights of Mother Earth, which must be protected and preserved.

Referring to climate change, the ambassador warned about the pernicious influence on Earth, and stressed that it is the answer to the socio-economic, political, food, energy and ecological crisis caused by the capitalist system.

If we deny these facts, we will come to more confusion and take wrong decisions on the way of eradicating this problem of vital importance for humanity, she emphasized.

She reiterated that it is all about saving Mother Earth from the influences of climate change and creating a space where people live in harmony with each other, and with all living beings, with whom they cohabit this planet, and are endowed with no less rights than humans.

The presidents of countries and international organizations are making efforts to defend the rights of Mother Earth, but unfortunately so far these are not sufficient, deplored Ramos.

On a day like this, Bolivia calls for reflection to contribute and help in defending the rights of Pachamama, which consequently are our own aspirations to live in harmony and respect, concluded the Bolivian ambassador.
