Dominican Republic: Green Alert Because of Heavy Rains
Santo Domingo, Nov 4 (Prensa Latina) The national Emergency Operations Center (COE) maintained a green alert for possible flooding on Monday for 22 provinces and the National District, due to heavy rains.
Since October 30, the districts of María Trinidad Sanchez, Samana, Hato Mayor, La Altagracia, La Romana, San Pedro de Macorís, Monte Plata and Santo Domingo, have been under green alert.
Other districts, such as Duarte, Elías Piña, San Juan, Azua, Peravia, San Cristobal, San Jose de Ocoa, La Vega, Monseñor Nouel, Sanchez Ramirez, Santiago, Espaillat, El Seibo and Hermanas Mirabal, were added on Sunday.
Weather reports said that heavy and moderate rains with thunderstorms and wind gusts would continue in most of the country until Wednsday.
Because of the situation, the COE warned residents in vulnerable zones to stay alert for landslides and flooded rivers and streams.
