A-H1N1 Cases Increase in Honduras While Dengue Decreases
Tegucigalpa, Nov 14 (Prensa Latina) Secretariat of Health in Honduras announced an increase of patients infected with the A-H1N1 virus, which claimed its fourth victim this week, while a decrease in those affected by dengue was registered.
According to Bredy Lara, Head of Health Surveillance, the most recent deceased, whose identity was not disclosed, is a woman of San Pedro Sula who suffered from high blood pressure and had a history of asthma.
She stated that so far, 127 confirmed cases have been reported.
She explained that the four dead due to influenza A-H1N1 were people who were suffering from chronic diseases, such as anemia, diabetes, hypertension, obesity, alcoholism, and asthma.
On the other hand, up to the epidemiological week 44, it was reported 35.215 cases of dengue, of which 4.086 are suspected of serious dengue.
Last week 1.027 new cases were reported, showing a reduction of 43 percent in relation to the week 31, when the largest number of people infected with the disease was registered.
