Chernobyl, CUBAN HUMANITARIAN PROGRAM
|
Cuban research studies in children from Chernobyl are evaluated by Alberto Nuñez Betancourt, Granmma page 2, November 17th 1995. A seminar on the Cuban research conducted in children from areas affected by the Chernobyl accident gathered atomic energy experts from the United States of America, France, Japan, Brazil, Spain, Mexico, Hungary and Cuba. Headed by Abel González, assistant director of Safety of the International Atomic Energy Organization, the visitors evaluate the Cuban dosimetry studies on the radiations received by the children from Chernobyl and the possible impact of this disaster on the health of these children. The seminar, which will submit the conclusions today in its last session, is organized by the International Atomic Energy organization and the Executive Department of Nuclear Affairs in Cuba. The international body suggested the holding of the seminar because it considered that the Cuban experience in the comprehensive treatment of children from Ukraine, Belarus and Russia was very positive and unique. The experts made a tour of the Villa Tarará facilities, the Center of Radiation Protection and Hygiene and “Hermanos Ameijeiras” hospital. |
