Chernobyl, CUBAN HUMANITARIAN PROGRAM



International Events

International Events1. Seminar on the Cuban research studies of children from areas affected by Chernobyl accident, November 14-17, 1995. This event was organized by the IAEO and attended prestigious personalities in the field of radiological protection. The memoirs were published by IAEO in  TEC-DOC-958 “Dosimetric and biomedical studies conducted in Cuba of children from areas of the former USSR affected by the radiological consequences of the Chernobyl Accident”, IAEO, Vienna, 1997 (see publications).

2.  A decade after Chernobyl. Vienna, Austria. April, 1996. It was organized by the IAEO. Title of the paper Cuban studies conducted in children from the areas affected by the Chernobyl accident. This paper was published by the IAEO (see publications).

3.  International Conference on the radiological accident of Goiania 10 years later, Goiania, Brazil, October 1997. Title of the paper The  experience of the Cuban program for children from areas affected by the radioactive pollution. Authors: García et al.

4. 4th Latin American Congress of the Latin American Association of Environmental Mutagenesis, Carcinogenesis and Teratogenesis. Curitiba, Brazil, November 1998. Title of the paper Main results of the Cuban program Chernobyl; authors: 0. García et al.

5. 5th Regional Congress of Radiological Safety and Protection. Regional Congress of IRPA, April 29-May 4   2001. Recife, Brazil. Ten years of work in the Cuban program for children from the territories affected by the Chernobyl accident; authors: García O., Medina J.

6. 3rd International Conference on the health effects of the Chernobyl accident.. Results achieved in 15 years of research studies. June 4-8, 2001 in Kiev, Ukraine; “Medical and research results of the Cuban program Chernobyl, authors: García O., Medina J.

7. 4th International Conference Chernobyl Children- health Effects and Psychosocial Rehabilitation, June 2-6 2003, Kiev, Ukraine. O. García was member of the international scientific committee of this conference

11. “Chernobyl looking back to go forward”. Convention Center in Vienna, Austria, September 5-7,  2005. Organized by the Forum of Chernobyl. Poster the Cuban Chernobyl program”. Just six other international organizations were invited to present posters in this event.

12. International Conference for the child´s health. Kiev-Ukraine. December 1992. Organization of the Cuban Medical Services for the care of patients from disaster areas.

13. April 1994-Congress of Infant Psychiatry: Psychological impact of the Chernobyl accident on the exposed population.

14. November 1994: 2nd National Meeting of the Neuroscience Society of Cuba. Descriptive Study of patients affected by the Chernobyl disaster.

15. September 1999: 5th International Congress on Disasters. Topic: Submission of the Cuban Program of Care to Children from Areas Affected by the Chernobyl Accident.

16. June 1999: National Congress of American Physicians. Las Vegas, United States. Topic: The Chernobyl Accident. Experience of a 10-year Cuban Comprehensive Medical Care

17. April 2001: Chernobyl, 12 years afterwards. International Conference in Kiev, Ukraine

18. March 2002. Pan-American Congress of Psychiatry, Infant and Young Psychology and Related Professions. Topic: Psychological Preparation for Disaster Situations.

19. April 2006. Holy See, Rome.  The program is submitted to the Pontifex for health and peace, the Diplomatic Corps accredited to the Holy See, IAEO scientists and other international organizations.
