Chernobyl, CUBAN HUMANITARIAN PROGRAM



Acknowledgement

1.In 1996, the centennial of the discovery of radioactivity was commemorated. To this end, a special commission was created in Cuba and thanks to its initiative, the Ministry of Sciences, Technology and Environment established the special prize “Centennial of Discovery of Radioactivity” to be given once in celebration of such an important date to the paper of highest impact for the peaceful use of nuclear energy in the 90´s. Eight papers were submitted on the basis of the most significant results achieved by the participating centers throughout the country. The special prize was granted to the paper “Impact of radiations on children from areas affected by Chernobil accident” by a group of authors from CPHR. According to the criteria of the evaluating commission, this is an important contribution of the Cuban experts to the study of the consequences of the most serious accident in the history of nuclear energy.
 
2.March 2000.  Acknowledgement by the President of Ukraine at the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the humanitarian program.
 
3.March 2003. Acknowledgement of the Major of Kiev.
 
4.March 2003.  Diploma of Honor granted by Nina Korpashova, plenipotentiary representative for the human rights in Ukraine.
