Impact

As to the social aspect, the program has facilitated curing and rehabiliting thousands of children, many of whom had given up hopes of recovering whereas others had been denied possibilities of treatment in other parts of the world. Most of the children suffering oncohematological diseases, who were treated in Cuba, are in good health condition at present. Hundreds of these children came from boarding schools for unprotected children and orphans.

On the scientific side, the impact lies in the collection of primary data on internal pollution found in children from areas affected by Chernobil accident, in the dissemination of this information in the most relevant scientific events to evaluate the accident sequelae and the use of such information by international bodies of the United
