THE GREATEST CHALLENGE FOR HUMANKIND IN THE NEW CENTURY

The NGO Caribbean Medical Association (CMA) invites its members and all individuals and organizations interested in the theme of longevity and the improvement of the quality of life, to attend the first international event devoted to the health and longevity of humankind in the 21st century.

The aim of the congress is to bring together experts and specialists in themes fundamental to the development of a long and fulfilling life, so that they may exchange ideas and experiences and thus foster an integral approach to human longevity.

Six themes will be addressed in the working sessions: motivation, health, nutrition, physical activity, culture and ecology. The objective will be to analyze the impact of each of these on healthy old age. The agenda will include master lectures, panel discussions and the presentation of papers, posters and videos.

Within the context of the Congress, linked to the theme of motivation, the First Joy of Living Festival will also be held. This event is especially geared to people over 50, and will offer a space for mutual contact, entertainment and the enrichment and development of their vital capacities. The festival will encompass sessions devoted to culture, health and physical activity, seminars with cooking specialists and dietitians, craft workshops, concerts, and other activities. Participants in the festival can also attend the Congress working sessions of interest to them and share their experiences or concerns.

The collateral activities held alongside the Congress will include an exhibition of products and equipment related to the theme of longevity, book presentations, crafts exhibitions, a marathon for older adults, food displays and tastings, cultural functions, and optional tourist excursions.

In addition to experts on the themes to be addressed, we expect the participation of organizations and personalities from roughly 20 countries, as well as Cuban and foreign specialists in numerous fields of medicine, diet and nutrition, genetics, and social sciences; there will also be figures from the worlds of sports, literature and the arts. We invite you to join them.

The Congress will be held at the Hotel Nacional, the crown jewel of the Cuban hotel industry.

The deadline for registration is February 28, 2003.
