In the last five years, the strategy of the Ministry of Health of Peru was to give financial support to professionals in different areas of management and public health. This strategy was based in the paradigm of building skills and strategies of health and management in local areas. One of the most important investments was funding of 800 professionals that took one or more postgraduate programs in these areas. In the same context, this strategy was reinforced with local plans of health in different points of Peru.
Now, to Peruvian educational institutions is to support these professionals. This will build capacity and provide continuous learning to these professionals in the field. The most effective way to accomplish is develop distance learning programs. These courses would make update information and needed knowledge readily available to professionals working across Peru.
To support this goal, our pilot project will elaborate the constructivist methodology and focused on the cultural diversity of our country. Three are the objectives of this project: a) Develop an on-line course for the public health degree program in the faculty of Public Health in Cayetano Heredia University with a trans-cultural vision; b) Include constructivist methodology in this on-line course in public health program and c) Evaluate the results of the application of the constructivist theory and the trans-cultural vision in the public health degree program for our different audiences. Our poster will provide updates on this pilot effort.
